“I want to be more faithful to anger and evil.”

The secret to the success of  “The Glory” is that it focuses on “revenge,” not “mercy,” informing that wanting revenge is never a wrong feeling to have. Many stories justify the perpetrator’s harm by giving narratives, such as discord in the family and experiences of violence as a child. However, “The Glory" left no room to justify the perpetrator's deeds. In addition, although victim Dong-eun's revenge was personal - not judicial revenge - good figures such as educators and police cooperated or tolerated it, giving victims a sense of freedom from the limitations of legal justice.

The changes that “The Glory” brought to our society did not end on a personal level. First of all, the scene in “The Glory” in which Yeon-jin bullied the victims with a hair curling iron had the effect of re-examining the 2006 school violence in Cheongju. In addition, there was an incident in which the official resigned after it was revealed that his son was a perpetrator of school violence. There are many dramas and movies dealing with school violence or social problems, but few dramas bring such changes to the real world. The reason why “The Glory” was able to increase interest in victims in the blind spot of the law was because of the story of victims realizing justice on their own without any protection or help from the law.

Through these two series, “Taxi Driver” and “The Glory”, we can see that society's views on victims and perpetrators are gradually changing. Unlike the past literature or video works, the focus has been more on the “realization of justice" or “revenge.” "The law is far and the power is near. The law is far and the fist is close.” This is the line of the victim in the drama “Taxi Driver.” While it remains unchanged that the "law" is the most important means of realizing justice, it is clear that sending the message that the victims no longer have to endure the wound is much warmer than just words of consolation.
