Professor Park Hyun-sung from the Department of Life Science, College of Natural Science, was presented the Academic Promotion Award at the 22nd L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Awards Ceremony, held in Korea on June 27, 2023. She was acknowledged for her groundbreaking work in epigenetics that has significantly contributed to advancements in cancer and vascular therapies.

  In addition to her research, Professor Hyun-sung is considered a pioneer in fostering female talent in the field of science in Korea. Her engagement with various organizations, such as the Women’s Bioscience Forum and Korea Federation of Women’s Science & Technology Associations, has led to enhanced research environments and support systems for female researchers. At the award ceremony, she said that just as diverse scientific knowledge and engineering skills have inevitably embraced, converged, and evolved to solve scientific challenges, the inclusion of diverse members of society is crucial for creating social conditions that nurture individual potential.
