Many students from the University of Seoul (UOS) have recently shown outstanding capabilities, receiving numerous awards in domestic and international competitions in 2023.

For example, Team UOS-Robotics took first place in the RoboCup Autonomous Robot Manipulation Challenge which was held for a week in July in France. Additionally, Team CDSL_UOS won the IFAC World Congress 2023 Mathworks Minidrone Competition, and Team Tonggeumalrimi took second prize in the Monetary Policy Contest 2023.

Moreover, students have been awarded at the 18th International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Following these remarkable performances, Team Amoredo, with four bachelor students from the Department of Industrial and Visual Design collaborating with Amorepacific, received the grand prize in the Seoul Design 2023 Corporate + Young Designer Brand Exhibition.

Its products were specialized types of tools to wash one’s hair with ease and fun for anyone such as disabled people, people with injured fingers, or parents washing the hair of their children.

Therefore, Team Amoredo wanted to design a product that will appeal to a wide range of generations and different physical conditions, given that the topic of the project was valuable life. The UOS Times visited the exhibition held in Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

Welcome to Amoredo Brush Lab

The exhibition was divided into three parts: market, collaboration works, and young designer works. As Team Amoredo won first place, it had the biggest stand with the name of Amoredo Brush Lab in the venue of the young designer exhibition.

Not only did it have a display of different types of hair-washing brushes it had made, but the photos or videos showing how to use the tools were put on view, which helped visitors understand. Featuring creative products and unique displays, Team Amoredo has been drawing huge attention from many visitors.

Most of them had a positive feeling about its works which resonated with their everyday lives. There were also several international visitors leaving comments that the idea of the products was unique and original.

The UOS Times asked a member of Team Amoredo at the exhibition what the main appealing points are to international visitors. She emphasized that they worked with Amorepacific, one of the most well-known leading cosmetic companies in the K-Beauty industry, considering the connections between K-Beauty and the daily behaviors of diverse people.

She sent special thanks to Amorepacific for offering full support even though it was a collaboration with students. She also mentioned that team Amoredo tried to focus on sharing their experiences with each other in their daily lives over literature research, which led them to collect interesting ideas that could resonate with everyone.

The UOS Times could feel the hard work and enthusiasm of the students who took a fresh look at what people take for granted in their everyday lives. The exhibition of Team Amoredo was a precious opportunity to experience the playful and valuable side of the K-Beauty industry.
