With the year 2011 coming to an end, it is time to remember that there are people who practice the spirit of sharing and caring. Volunteers for “Briquettes Delivery” and “Secret Visit by Santa” were just some of the people sharing the warmth of love with the isolated and people less fortunate in underprivileged neighborhoods despite the harsh winter weather.

First, “Briquettes Delivery Activity” is arranged by the student councils and social welfare center in UOS. Different members of UOS, from faculty and staff to students participated in this volunteer work on Sep, 15. They personally delivered heating products such as Briquettes and little holiday gifts to residents in Jungnang-gu Sinnae-dong Saeugae town.

Moreover, “Secret Visit by Santa” is definitely a wonderful program to show affection to the isolated in that volunteers visit the homes of little girls and boys in poor neighborhoods on Christmas Eve. Students dressed up like a Santa Claus and knocked on the doors of children’s homes giving them gifts, singing songs together, and leaving hopeful New Year’s messages. Although these end of the year volunteer activities weren’t the biggest attention grabbing programs with large donations, these activities gladdened the hearts of both givers and takers.
