On March 27, UOS Students’ General Meeting was held in the auditorium. The number of attendants surpassed 1/10 of all registered students, the minimum attendance required to organize the meeting. As the supreme legislative body of UOS, the students’ general meeting aimed to bring in and vote on proposals concerning university governing and student welfare. Among the items proposed, the meeting focused on three main bills: demands for tuition reduction in all Korean universities, abolishment of the university incorporation law and solutions to ease financial burdens of student housing.

With 602 students voting yes, the resolutions of the main proposals were passed. However, some of the other proposed bills failed to reach the magic number. Before the general meeting ended, a lottery took place to choose 101 students for an iPad and 100 USBs. All attendants were given meal tickets and papers of excused absence. The next general meeting is scheduled to take place during the second semester.
