I think there is no one who does not know the name, ‘Titanic.’ This movie has been loved by many people all over the world. Finally, ‘Titanic’ has been re-made in 3D. I welcome its re-made 3D version, and I want to introduce some dialogues from ‘Titanic’ to the UOS Times readers. By reading the following dialogues, I hope you are touched by ‘Titanic.’

Jack unexpectedly sees that Rose is trying to jump off the boat.

Jack: Don’t do it.
Rose: Stay back! Don’t come any closer!
Jack: Come on. Just give me your hand. I’ll pull you back over.
Rose: No! Stay where you are. I mean it. I’ll let go.
Jack: No you won’t.
Rose: What do you mean, “No, I won’t?” Don’t presume to tell me what I will and will not do. You don’t know me.
Jack: Well, you would have done it already.
Rose: You’re distracting me. Go away!
Jack: I can’t. I’m involved now. You let go and I’m going to have to jump in there after you.
Rose: Don’t be absurd. You’ll be killed.

stay back 물러서다 presume 추측하다 distract (마음,주의)를 딴 데로 돌리다 I’m involved now. (의역) 이미 이 상황을 봤다. absurd 어처구니없는, 어리석은

Rose’s fiance cal gives her a diamond necklace to console her.

Cal: I know you’ve been melancholy. I don’t pretend to know why. I intended to save this until the engagement gala next week. But I thought tonight.
Rose: Good gracious.
Cal: Perhaps as a reminder of my feelings for you.
Rose: Is it a..?
Cal: Diamond? Yes. 56 carats to be exact. It was worn by Louis XVI and they called it “le Coeur de la Mer.”
Rose: ‘The Heart of the Ocean.’
Cal: Yes.
Rose: It’s overwhelming.
Cal: Well, it’s for royalty. We are royalty, Rose. You know, there’s nothing I couldn’t give you. There’s nothing I’d deny you if you would not deny me. Now open your heart to me, Rose.

melancholy (이유를 알 수 없는) 우울감 gala 경축 행사 gracious (놀라움을 나타내어) 세상에! overwhelming 압도적인, 부담스러운

Rose changes her mind and comes back to Jack.

Rose: Hello, Jack. I changed my mind. They said you might be up--
Jack: Sssshh. Give me your hand. Now close your eyes. Go on. Step up. Now hold onto the railing. Keep your eyes closed, don’t peek.
Rose: I’m not.
Jack: Step up onto the rail. Hold on… hold on. Keep your eyes closed. Do you trust me?
Rose: I trust you.
Jack: All right. Open your eyes.
Rose: Oh, I’m flying! Jack!
Jack: (singing softly) “Come Josephine in my flying machine...”

go on, hold on 계속하다 hold onto the railing 난간을 잡다 peek 재빨리 훔쳐보다

During their last conversation, Jack asks Rose to survive in the cold sea.

Rose: I love you, Jack.
Jack: Don’t you do that. Don’t you say your good-byes. Not yet, do you understand me?
Rose: I’m so cold.
Jack: Listen, Rose... You’re going to get out of here. You’re going to go on and you’re going to make lots of babies. And you’re going to watch them grow. You’re going to die an old... an old lady warm in her bed. Not here. Not this night. Not like this. Do you understand me?
Rose: I can’t feel my body.
Jack: Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me. It brought me to you... And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful. You must... you must... you must do me this honor... you must promise me... that you’ll survive... that... you won’t give up... no matter what happens... no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose. And never let go of that promise.
Rose: I promise.
Jack: Never let go.
Rose: I will never let go, Jack. I’ll never let go.

get out of here 이곳을 빠져나가다 can’t feel one’s body 몸에 감각이 없다 win the ticket 티켓을 얻다 no matter what happens 무슨 일이 있어도 no matter how hopeless (의역) 어떤 상황에서도 never let go of that promise 약속을 반드시 지키다
