“I know that it is rather too early to think about death. Having no child, I thought that it would be beneficial to me if I consider at this moment how to deal with my fortune after I die. I will be glad if my donation could help students who face financial burdens for paying tuition fees.”

Song, a woman in her 40s donated to UOS all of her real estate assets, which are estimated to be about 900 million won. According to University Headquarters, Song donated her apartment in Banpo-dong and her estates in Yongin and Wonju.

The fact that may surprise many people is that Song has no apparent relation with UOS. However, she was determined that public institutions should have more support in educating students. Therefore, she searched through all national and public universities and finally decided to donate to UOS.

Song said, “I was deeply moved by philanthropists in America. I came to think that it would be wonderful to help those in need with my donations. I hope that I would spread the culture of donations throughout our society.”
