The Environmental Horticultural Exhibition was held from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 in the Main Auditorium. It has been one of the biggest annual festivals at UOS. It is designed by students, graduate students and professors in Dept. of Environmental Horticulture. It began in 1960 as a Chrysanthemum Show. It used to be held in various places including Seoul Children’s Grand Park, Hyundai Department Store, and Seoul Citizen Hall.

The festival also introduced what the Dept. of Environmental Horticulture does for the world more than just arranging flowers nicely. For instance, they study Biology and apply results of study to the local society. Also they conduct study about horticulture and develop new vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers that are essential to the minds and bodies of healthy people.

Outside of the main auditorium visitors can enjoy the flowers. This year 96 species and 586 pieces of work were in the exhibition. There are floral arrangements that look like animals and chrysanthemums of various colors are located in front of the auditorium door. For example, one piece was a guitar decorated with flowers. One of the visitors, Lee Kwon-yeol (School of Computer Science, ’13) said “It is pretty interesting to make the Korean Peninsula out of flowers and differentiate the North and South by using different colors.” Inside the auditorium, more static and comparatively smaller pieces were shown. There were also some pieces that were for sale.
