UOS Library has decided to subscribe Web database and Electronic Journals for 2016 to support the research of UOS professors and students. Members of UOS now can access to 49 Web DB and 40,000 E-journals through the Library’s website.

Web DB is research database service that offers bibliographic data or original texts from both domestic and international academic journals through websites. E-journals are scholarly journals or intellectual magazines that have form of electronic document.

The Library’s Selection Committee, composed of seven representatives from each college, decided the subscription on October 14th , last year. The Library renews the subscription based on the Committee’s selection every year since the contract is not permanent. The Committee receives requests and recommendations from each college departments and graduate schools. Also, the Committee considers how much data were used during the subscription period to manage the contract within the Library’s budget.

The Library has been promoting utilizing Web DB and E-journals to increase service for users. According to Soo-yeon Choi, officer of Library’s electronic information department, the Library regularly holds education program to help researchers fully utilize the system. Also, she added that the Library also holds Electronic Academic Information Exhibition to promote the system widely. Average 250 people participates the exhibition every year. The education program will also be held in this year, 2016.
