Cover Story: Deep Dive into Reading Habits

In the last issue, The UOS Times covered reading habits. It was a very interesting article for me because I would love to read books more often. From part one to part three of the article, I was able to learn the history of books and find out what students think about books. The most interesting part for me was part three. I have always wondered how I can recommend books to my friends. I think books are the best things to improve ourselves. From now on, I will suggest “Books that UOS Reads” to my friends.

Society: Starting in Peace: The 2018 Pyongyang Summit 

What was the biggest issue in Korea last year? I think it was the inter-Korea Summit in Pyongyang. The summit between the North and South is a huge signal for reunification. But before reunification, we have to be sure that the North’s attacks in past years, such as the sinking of the ROKS Cheonan or the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, do not happen again. The North should have apologized before, but they have not. Before reunification, I hope that the North apologizes for their actions. I think that if the article deals with this issue, it would be more balanced.

The Place: Iksun-dong, A Meeting Between Past and Present

In the last issue, The UOS Times introduced Iksun-dong, which is a famous place in Korea. I knew about Iksun-dong before. However, I just knew where it is located. Through this article, I was able to learn more about Iksun-dong, such as the meaning of Pimagil and the long history of Bindaetteok. If someone asks me where is the best place for a one-day trip in Seoul, I will confidently recommend Iksun-dong.

Focus on UOS: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

This article is very beneficial and useful to people who are interested in being an exchange student. I learned about the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) from this article, and it is very useful information to me. In next issue, I hope that The UOS Times will cover about  the difficulties of living in another country to  Last year, I went to Canada. I was hoping that Canada would be a utopia, but it is not. There were a lot of problems that I had to deal with. If I would known about these things before, I would have had a better life there. So, it would be really good to know about the difficulties.
