Every fall, several movie festivals are held on our campus. The Urban Movie Festival, the Animation Movie Festival, and the Hanulvit Movie Festival, to name a few! Look in the Hanulvit to learn more about that!

Below the Students Hall, there is a small room with walls covered with various movie posters and scenes. In the center of the room, there is big screen TV and VCR. It is a popular hangout for fashionable students. The chairperson of Hanulvit is Lee Han-hyek. Now, let’s see an interview with him about Hanulvit.

1. What do you do in Hanulvit?

Hanulvit’s main activity is conducting weekly seminars, but once a year, we host a movie festival.

At first term, we usually hold a seminar about one main theme and present one movie about that theme, within a two week period. The biggest event that our club holds is, of course, the movie festival. In autumn, we select several movies that can’t be seen easily at local theaters, and show them to UOS students. This year, we selected, ‘Asian movie’.

2. Do you make films?

If the condition is good, we sometimes make 16mm films. In 1996, as well as this year, we made films, but the economic condition was not good for making films, so our last film was not perfect.

3. Are there any alumni who enter into the world of cinema?

One of our founders who made our circle, made a short film named Noeulsori which took him to The Venice Film Festival. Because we are not a major in film, there are not many alumni who enter into the cinema world, except some alumni who enter as independent filmmakers.

If you want to join the Hanulvit, there is an online cafe in Daum.
