Whenever a new semester starts, students make up their minds to have a better time than last semester. In the first semester, many students are enthusiastic both taking planned study time and being close with friends, seniors or juniors, like a sprinter at the start line of a 100m race.

But before long, they feel exhausted, forgetting the pursuit of knowledge and taking their lessons. It is the same with me. This semester, differing from my last three semesters however, my mental attitude is not that of the sprinter at the start line but that of a marathon runner.

NEWS@UOS has altered some of its articles and started to update short articles on renewal University of Seoul (UOS) homepage. News in Brief, in keeping with its name, has been shortened. NEWS@UOS updates short articles on UOS English homepage, Campus News Tap (http://english.uos.ac.kr), every Wednesday to make the new slimmed down News in Brief. NEWS@UOS perseveres in our efforts to satisfy readers and produce a better magazine. In Campus News Tap, NEWS@UOS provides not only important news from the UOS but also a forum for the interchange of students’ news through S café and the Institute of International Cooperation Education.

Insider fills up the vacancy left by News in Brief. Insider will give in-depth reporting on the most significant news events. The Place, which recommends little-known spots in Seoul, increases from an 1 page to 2 pages. Through this work, NEWS@UOS promises to offer better information in English to the UOS student population and all NEWS@UOS readers.

I feel a sense of responsibility by introducing the NEWS@UOS changes. As the common saying goes, the position makes personality. It means that depending on one’s position, one’s thinking and behaviors are changed. During the last two years at NEWS@UOS, each time my position has changed, likewise I have changed too.

In this way, the UOS’s circumstances affect the image of the UOS and each and every student of the UOS. Going one step forward, it affects the UOS’s standards. In the 96th NEWS@UOS’s Campus Issue, we dealt with the UOS’s circumstances. In front of the university, a center of education, we can’t find any bookstore or a second hand shop. There are only bars and restaurants. We have to worry about what is right.
