Oct. 1 was Chuseok, one of Korea's most important traditional holidays. Chuseok is August 15 of the lunar calendar and kind of Korea's Thanksgiving Day. Traditionally, people bowed respect to their ancestors through ancestral rites and visited ancestral graves, and prayed for a good harvest. They shared food with their family, relatives, and villagers. Songpyeon(half-moon-shaped rice cake, in English) is the representative food of Chuseok, and they played games such as Ganggangsulae(traditional Korean circle dance play by women under the bright full moon, in English). As time goes by, memorial services and events have reduced but some of them deformed and remain. There is still a custom of returning hometowns and gathering.
